
Bachelor of Arts (BA)
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in political science offers students a broad liberal arts education along with a comprehensive understanding of the nature and functioning of the political process. It also provides a sound foundation for graduate study in political science, public administration and nonprofit management, or for careers that require knowledge of governance and the political process, such as law.
BA With American Politics Concentration
The American Politics concentration provides Political Science majors with sufficient breadth and depth of knowledge in American political institutions and behavior to give students the academic background necessary to succeed in related jobs and professions and to prepare them for advanced study in this field.
BA With Civic Leadership & Engagement Concentration
The civic leadership and engagement concentration at UNC Greensboro teaches political science majors to effectively participate in, organize, and lead civic groups and communities as they work to solve public problems.
BA with Pre-Law concentration
The Prelaw concentration provides Political Science majors with sufficient breadth and depth of knowledge in American law and legal institutions to give students the academic background useful to succeed in related jobs and professions and to prepare them for advanced studies in law school and other law-related programs.
BA with Public Affairs concentration
UNC Greensboro’s public affairs concentration provides political science majors sufficient breadth and depth of knowledge in public policy, public affairs, and public administration necessary to succeed in related jobs and professions and to prepare them for advanced studies in these fields.
BA With Global Politics concentration
The Global Politics concentration provides Political Science majors sufficient breadth and depth of knowledge in international relations and comparative politics to give students the academic background necessary to succeed in related jobs and professions and to prepare them for advanced studies in these fields.
Master of Public Affairs (MPA)
UNC Greensboro’s MPA program is the only MPA program in the North Carolina Piedmont Triad accredited by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA). We provide a stimulating and challenging education enabling a diverse student body to develop public values and master essential knowledge and skills within a supportive community.

MPA with Community and Economic Development Concentration
The concentration in Community and Economic Development combines the MPA core requirements with courses emphasizing the knowledge and skills to prepare students to work in organizations focusing on community and economic development activities.
MPA With Local Government Management Concentration
The concentration in Local Government Management combines the MPA core requirements with courses emphasizing the knowledge and skills to prepare students to work as local government managers.
MPA with Nonprofit Management Concentration
The Nonprofit Management concentration is designed to give students an overview of the nonprofit field and to develop specific skills and program knowledge to meet a variety of interests and career goals.
The Nonprofit Management Certificate
Earn a graduate certificate in 1-2 years while learning nonprofit management skills, including fundraising, grant writing, strategic planning, and budgeting. It’s offered online and on campus.
